Letter from HEE-TV Dean

Updated: Jan 21, 2021

Dear colleagues,

On Saturday we heard the news about the updated Christmas plans from the government. These new restrictions will have a significant impact on all of us. Many of us will have been relying on having those few days off in order to have some time away from the frontline to see family or friends and recharge, so this news will have come as a blow.

This year has been tough for everyone, and as well as Christmas, we have seen Eid, Hanukkah and Diwali also severely restricted, sometimes with less than a day’s notice. We recognise how difficult this will have been for all of you. The Deanery, Trainee Advisory Committee (TAC) and the Trainee Physicians Committee (TPC) are here to support you in whatever way we can. There are many resources available on the Deanery website: https://www.tvpsw.com. But please do reach out to us, your educational supervisors, training programme directors, college tutors or heads of school if you are struggling.

We continue to closely monitor the current situation in our hospitals and we are in constant communication with our trusts to try to find the correct balance between protecting patients, protecting training and protecting our frontline staff from being overwhelmed.

Thank you to you all for your continued dedication in these exceptionally challenging times.

With very best wishes,

Dr Michael Bannon, PG Dean

Dr Antonia Calogeras, PG Associate Dean
